Holding Onto Morning Warmth: A Kitchen Built to Breathe
Afshan BehnamghaderThis kitchen receives the early morning sun because of its north and east facing windows. As the sun moves during the day, the kitchen light shifts to a cooler blue tone.
To make up for this, the cabinets are painted a soft yellow color. So, they are empowered to step in, to hold onto that morning warmth during the day, keeping the kitchen the beating heart of the house.
The tall pantry cabinets are designed to store food and the fridge, but the rest of the walls are left completely free of upper cabinets. The kitchen breathes. The dishes sit proudly on open shelves, showing the space in action.

The center belongs to the wooden island. An old table, beautifully weathered by the passing of time. It is raised, like a functional wood sculpture. It brings character and warmth, with glass drawers that beautifully reflect light and help with storage.

In the corner, a round dining table brings the room together. paired with proper lighting and botanical art, it makes room a comforting space to hang out. Here you can cook, prepare food, or sit down to eat and chat. The room gives you the opportunity to just be and make memories.
