“Niloofar” (water lily) is a twelve-petal flower motif drawn from architectural carvings at Persepolis, the ancient ceremonial capital of the Persian Achaemenid Empire. In ancient Persia, the twelve-petal form was often associated with the lotus or sun symbol, representing renewal, harmony, and the quiet turning of time, like the passage of twelve months.
